Helen Louise Seitz, 91, of Highland, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis.
She was born March 24, 1917, in East St. Louis, Ill., daughter of Arthur and Wilma A. Walters Chitwood. She and Leonard Eugene "Lenny" Seitz were married May 28, 1947, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland. He died Sept. 19, 2000.
Seitz was a 1935 graduate of Collinsville, Ill., High School. She worked for the state of Illinois at Edgemont/French Village eight years. After her marriage she worked with her husband in the operation of Seitz Jewelry Store and Seitz Office Supply. She was a member of St. Paul Church and former member of Highland Women's Club, enjoyed playing bridge and belonged to several bridge clubs.
Survivors include a son, Charles E. (Deborah) Seitz of Jackson; a daughter, Mary E. (Peter Baechle) Seitz of St. Louis; a granddaughter, Sarah M. Holland and fiance James Mowery of Jackson; and a great-grandson, Connor J. Mowery of Jackson.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Church, with the Revs. Aloysius Ndeaneafo and David Peters officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.
