HELEN RICHTER

NEW WELLS -- Helen Richter, 76, of New Wells died Wednesday, April 9, 1997, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 5, 1920, at Commerce, daughter of Benjamin and Hattie Meyr Haertling. She and Herold G. Richter were married Oct. 13, 1940, at New Wells. He died Jan. 2, 1983.

Richter had worked at Sander True Value Hardware Store in Jackson and Cape Girardeau, retiring in 1989. She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, former member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and former board member of Lutheran Family and Children's Services.

Survivors include a son, Richard Richter; a daughter, Charlotte Rubel; a brother, Vernon Haertling, all of Jackson; two granddaughters; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Church, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
