Helen S. Moll, 82, of Jackson passed away Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at Chateau Girardeau Nursing Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Tilsit, to Edwin and Emilie Voges Peetz. She and Edgar Moll were married June 6, 1948, in Tilsit.
Helen attended grade school at Tilsit and was proud to earn her GED in 1968, after all the children were born.
She was a devoted wife and mother, working at the former International Shoe Factory in Jackson in early years, and returning home when she and Edgar started their family.
She was an active mother, participating in all the kids' activities. She especially enjoyed being a 4-H leader, and foods was her favorite topic to teach. In the early 1980s she returned to work as a cook in the Jackson School District, primarily at Millersville.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit, where she participated in choir, Bible study, LWML, vacation Bible school and formerly taught Sunday school. She was appreciated for her gift of making banners for the church.
Known as "The Singing Sisters," Helen, Bernice, Ruby and "the other sister," Bernice Steiner, all fond of music, previously enjoyed singing and using their musical talents to entertain residents at local nursing homes.
Loving survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edgar of Jackson; a son, Glenn (Karen) Moll of Jasper, Mo., and children Cheryl, Justin and Bradley Moll; two daughters, Grace (Don) Keller of Jackson and children Brian (Katie) Keller and Laura Keller, and Wanda (Mark) Aufdenberg of Gordonville and children Julie, Nathan and Andrew Aufdenberg; a sister, Bernice (the late Wilford) Overbeck of Jackson; a brother, Junior (Elsie) Peetz of Jackson; and three sisters-in-law, Evelyn (the late Clarence) Peetz of Jackson, Dorothy (the late Wilbert) Peetz of Jackson and Lorene Bohnert of Crosstown.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Sander; the two brothers previously mentioned; and a young brother, Eldon Peetz.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9 a.m. until time of service Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Revs. Mark Boettcher and Tony Kobak officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Saxony Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran School.
