Helen Matthews

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Helen C. Matthews, 74, of Sikeston died Tuesday, March 27, 2007, after a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 3, 1933, at Charleston, Mo., daughter of Ernest and Mae Cox Maynard. She and Donald F. Matthews were married Dec. 22, 1951, in Savannah, Ga.

Matthews was a member of Miner Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, David Matthews of Sikeston, Jim Matthews of Jackson; a daughter, Lea Ann Brummett of Jefferson City, Tenn.; a sister, Lois Masterson of Sikeston; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister and a grandson.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Miner Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
