SIKESTON -- Helen Mae McVay, 78, of Sikeston died Dec. 24, 1992, at her granddaughter's home in Louisville, Ky. She was born in Cave in Rock, Ill., on Sept. 24, 1914, to George and Margaret Hahs Sheridan, both of whom preceded her in death. She first was married to Emmett Beeson. He died, and she married Robert J. McVay in Cape Girardeau on Feb. 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1978...

SIKESTON -- Helen Mae McVay, 78, of Sikeston died Dec. 24, 1992, at her granddaughter's home in Louisville, Ky.

She was born in Cave in Rock, Ill., on Sept. 24, 1914, to George and Margaret Hahs Sheridan, both of whom preceded her in death.

She first was married to Emmett Beeson. He died, and she married Robert J. McVay in Cape Girardeau on Feb. 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 15, 1978.

She had lived in Sikeston three years, coming from Commerce.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Commerce.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Bollinger of Festus; one brother, G. Willard Sheridan of Clarksville, Tenn.; three sisters, Harlene Schuerenberg of Sikeston, Enida Benincasa of Boca Raton, Fla., Mariella Rash of Elizabethtown, Ill.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel with the Rev. Jerry Reynolds, past of Wesley United Methodist Church in Sikeston, officiating.

Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Commerce.
