CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Helen Katherine Brinker McKee, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday Nov. 21, 1996, at Chateau Girardeau Health Care Center. She was born June 5, 1903, in Monroe Township, Ind., daughter of the late Frederick and Margretta Aufdemkampe Brinker. She married William H. McKee Jan. 2, 1933, in Aberdeen, Miss., and he preceded her in death...

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Helen Katherine Brinker McKee, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday Nov. 21, 1996, at Chateau Girardeau Health Care Center.

She was born June 5, 1903, in Monroe Township, Ind., daughter of the late Frederick and Margretta Aufdemkampe Brinker. She married William H. McKee Jan. 2, 1933, in Aberdeen, Miss., and he preceded her in death.

She was a housewife and was active in 4-H, Homemakers Extension, served on the Jackson County Board of Homemakers Extension and was county chairperson of that board in 1949 and 1950.

She received nurses training at Englewood Hospital and did post-graduate work at St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago. She became the director of a training school at Houston Hospital in Houston, Miss. She also worked at a first aid station for the U.S. Defense Corp in St. Louis during the Korean War then worked for the Carbondale Clinic.

She is survived by two sons, Dr. William McKee Jr. of Dunlop, Tenn., and Samuel B. McKee of Silver Springs, Md.; one daughter, Mary G. Ralston of Hickory, N.C.; one sister, Mrs. Charles Grace Bennett of Rapid City, S.D.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. today at Ford & Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau to be followed immediately by funeral services at the chapel with the Rev. Neal Zelinger officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at Riverside Cemetery in Mahomet, Ill.
