SIKESTON, Mo. -- Helen Beatrice Jaynes, 80, of Sikeston died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Kennett, Mo., daughter of Frank and Gladys Scott Jones. She and Leslie Jaynes were married Feb. 4, 1944, in Manila, Ark. He died June 10, 1974...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Helen Beatrice Jaynes, 80, of Sikeston died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Kennett, Mo., daughter of Frank and Gladys Scott Jones. She and Leslie Jaynes were married Feb. 4, 1944, in Manila, Ark. He died June 10, 1974.

Jaynes moved to Sikeston in 1972 from Parma, Mo. She was a cook on a tugboat for 10 years with M&G Transport Co. of Cincinnati and owned and operated several restaurants and lounges in Southeast Missouri. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and was a foster grandparent 10 years at Matthews Elementary School.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Jaynes of Chaffee, Mo., Roger Jaynes of East Prairie, Mo.; a daughter, Roxanne McRoy of Sikeston; a brother, Bobby Jones of Hazelwood, Mo.; a sister, Pat Cruze of Campbell, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Monday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
