GOLCONDA, Ill. -- Helen Maxine Holmes, 92, of Golconda passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Hillview Healthcare in Vienna, Illinois. Helen owned her own business, Helen's Beauty Shop, in Cairo, Illinois, for more than 50 years before moving to Golconda. GOLCONDA, Ill. -- Helen Maxine Holmes, 92, of Golconda passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Hillview Healthcare in Vienna, Illinois.

Helen owned her own business, Helen's Beauty Shop, in Cairo, Illinois, for more than 50 years before moving to Golconda. She had been a faithful, active member at Tigert Memorial United Methodist Church in Cairo.

Helen is survived by one son, Richard (Cynthia) Holmes of Barlow, Kentucky; two daughters, Pat Shadwick of Fancy Farm, Kentucky, and Pamela (Buddy) Upshaw of Golconda; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel and Ruby Palmer; husband, Clinton Allen Holmes; one brother; and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, Illinois.

Funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Interment will be 11:30 am Monday at Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Illinois.
