Helen Crow

Helen Maxine Crow, 78, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at her home.

She was born April 8, 1928, to Glen and Viola Stewart of Independence City, Va. After finishing high school and attending college on the East Coast, she began her work career with Household Finance, quickly rising to regional manager, and traveling across the U.S. setting up new offices for the company.

During this time she met her future husband, William Crow Jr., whom she married in 1958. The couple moved to Texas where Maxine settled into a new role as full-time mother to her two sons. The family moved to Cape Girardeau in 1968, where she has lived since.

Maxine served as the church secretary at Centenary United Methodist Church 25 years, until her retirement in 1998. Her dedication to her work and her care for the well-being of the church and its members will be long remembered.

Maxine is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Patrick and Kim Crow of Scottsboro, Ala.; William R. and Carla Crow III of Flower Mound, Texas; a grandson, Eric Crow of Flower Mound; and her stepmother, Susie Johnson of Fredericktown, Mo.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to service time Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Sanderson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery near Millersville.
