CHARLESTON -- Helen Carman, 85, of Charleston died Thursday, July 29, 1999, at Bertrand Nursing Facility.
She was born May 26, 1914, in the Texas Bend community north of Charleston, daughter of John and Mary Stricker Lankheit. She and George W. "Bill" Carman were married Sept. 10, 1936. He died March 7, 1973.
Carman lived in Charleston all her life, and was a lifelong member of St. Henry's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sons, Ernest and Joe Carman of Charleston, David Carman of Kelso; two sisters, Betty Schwerzler of Chicago, Rose Reeves of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. Sunday. Prayers will be offered at 7.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Henry's Church. The Rev. Gerald Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Texas Bend Cemetery.
