Helen Brown

BERNIE, Mo. -- Helen Jo Brown, 78, of Bernie died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born March 18, 1926, in Bernie, daughter of Joe and Mae McIntosh Charles. She and Robert Greene were married April 16, 1943. He died Jan. 13, 1996. She and Everett R. Brown were married June 15, 1999.

Brown was a Home Start teacher for the state of Missouri. She was a member of Bernie United Methodist Church, and was a Girl Scout leader at Matthews, Mo., many years.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sandra Lape of Sikeston, Linda Prakash of New York, N.Y.; a brother, Dale Charles of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Mary Moody of Bernie; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Susan Marner-Sides officiating. Burial will be in Portageville Cemetery.
