Helen Batjer of Abilene, Texas, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1992, in Abilene.
She was born Sept. 6, 1899, in Abilene, daughter of W.F.D. and Lois Minter Batjer. Her father was a former secretary of the Chamber of Commerce here.
Batjer received a bachelor of arts degree from Rice Institute, and master's degree from Peabody University in Nashville, Tenn. She taught school in Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Texas, and had been a substitute elementary teacher in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of the Episcopal Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Clara Mabley of Florida, Margaret Jennings of North Carolina, and Lois Layton of Perryville.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Funeral service was held Wednesday at Church of the Heavenly Rest in Abilene, with burial following.
