PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Helen S. Balsman, 93, of Perryville died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of August and Mabel Dormeyer Sander. She and Weldon Balsman were married Oct. 26, 1936, in Perryville.
She retired as an office worker for the Miraculous Medal Association in Perryville. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, the Daughters of Isabella, and was a volunteer at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Balsman of Miami; Thomas Balsman of Atlanta; Steven Balsman of Memphis, Tenn.; five daughters, Nancy Berkbeugler of Friedheim, Mo., Mary Kaemphe of Ballwin, Mo., Janice Keefe of Cape Girardeau, Sharon Balsman of St. Louis, Deborah Vaeth of Brewer, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, with Rev. Joe Williams officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
