SIKESTON -- Hazel Young, 98, of Sikeston, died Monday, April 18, 1994, at her home.
She was born Oct. 11, 1895, in Poplar Bluff, daughter of Charles Wallington and Ella Elizabeth Firth Penney. She and H.C. Young were married Aug. 30, 1914, at Poplar Bluff. He died Nov. 16, 1952.
Young was a member of First United Methodist Church and its UMW Missionary Circle Six, Sikeston Chapter 137 Order of Eastern Star, and Sikeston Women's Club.
She was a former member of the board of directors of KSIM Radio Station here, which was founded by her husband in 1949.
Survivors include a son, J. Richard Young of Naples, Fla.; a daughter, Hazelle Wilson of Sikeston; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and two brothers.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Charles Buck officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery here.
