Hazel V. Henson, 94, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson. She was born July 7, 1919, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Hahs Barks. She and Robert Lloyd Henson were married Nov. 5, 1938. He passed away May 28, 1992...

Hazel V. Henson, 94, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home in Jackson.

She was born July 7, 1919, in Oak Ridge, daughter of Henry and Sarah Elizabeth Hahs Barks. She and Robert Lloyd Henson were married Nov. 5, 1938. He passed away May 28, 1992.

Hazel worked at the former Wimpy's Drive-In in Cape Girardeau, the former Owl Shanty truck stop in Fruitland, and did child care in her home many years, retiring in 1992. She was a 60-year member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Jackson, and recently attended First General Baptist Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include a son, Jerry L. (Sammie) Henson of Parkville, Mo.; a daughter, Nancy Henson of Jackson; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Elaine Kinder; a brother, the Rev. Loy Barks; three sisters, Freda R. Martin, Effie E. Riehn and Gladys S. Bollinger.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chris Vaught officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Sargent's Chapel Cemetery or the church or charity of choice.
