ADVANCE, Mo. -- Hazel V. Garner, 91, of Advance passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 22, 1928, in Marble Hill, Missouri, the daughter of Robert Lee and Opal Francis Woodfin. Hazel and Troy D. Garner were united in marriage Sept. 9, 1944, in Bollinger County, Missouri, and he preceded her in death Feb. 8, 2018.
Hazel had been a homemaker. She was an avid quilter, gardener and canner. She was known for her delicious chicken and dumplings. She also had a servant's heart.
Hazel was a member of the Little Valley Baptist Church in Marble Hill.
Survivors include two sons, Denzel (Shirley) Garner of Ballwin, Missouri, and Kenneth (Marilyn) Garner of Knoxville, Tennessee; brother, Gale Woodfin of Cape Girardeau; sister, Darlene Kirkpatrick of O'Fallon, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Angela Freeman; and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Little Valley Baptist Church near Marble Hill.
Funeral will be at noon Saturday at the church, with the Rev. P.J. Null officiating. Burial will follow at Bollinger County Memorial Park in Marble Hill.
Morgan Funeral Home in Advance is in charge of all arrangements.
