Hazel Marie Ford, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Ratliff Care Center.
She was born Tuesday, April 27, 1920, in Oran, Missouri, to Raymond and Bessie Banks Richardson. She and John Francis Ford were married Nov. 14, 1938, in the Catholic parish of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. John passed away Aug. 19, 2007.
Hazel attended school in Lutesville, Missouri, and Cape Girardeau. She also completed several courses in real estate throughout the years. She was a real-estate broker for several years, owning and operating Town and Country Realty in Cape Girardeau. After selling the real-estate agency, she purchased Cape Mattress and continued working part-time in real estate until poor health forced her to retire in 2005.
Hazel was a former member of Old St. Vincent's Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, John Ford Jr. of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Stanley Richardson of Cape Girardeau; three granddaughters, Dawn (Gary) Ton of Memphis, Tennessee, Debby Erlbacher of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Kathy (Kevin) Vandeven of Maryville, Missouri; three grandsons, Sloan (Derk) Masters of Loveland, Colorado, Jay (Leslie) Seier of Fort Collins and Nathan (Stephanie) Ford of Cape Girardeau; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Hazel also is survived by several special friends, Robbie Eastman and the staff at Saxony Village, where she resided for the past nine years; Janet Wood; Shirley Pope; Darlene Petzel; Dr. Holmes; Dr. Spencer; and the staff.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francine Seier; her husband, John Francis Ford Sr.; and one granddaughter.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at funeral home, with the Rev. Bobby Manso officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
