DEXTER -- Hazel Mullen Clippard, 84, died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 31, 1913, at Avelon, Miss., daughter of Henry Buford and Ethel Embry Mullen. She and Wallis Andrew Clippard were married June 16, 1938, at Blodgett. He died Jan. 5, 1996.
Clippard was a member of First Baptist Church in Dexter, a homemaker and former schoolteacher in the Cooter, Blodgett, Commerce and Miner school districts. She also taught Sunday school at the church and was a member of its Women's Missionary Union. She also had been involved with the 4-H Club and county extension program.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Clippard or Roanoke, Va., Michael Clippard of Dexter; three brothers, Jack Mullen of Gideon, Jim Mullen of West, Miss., and Doug Mullen of Naples, Fla.; a sister, Betty Hyland of Beebe, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Rainey Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. Wayne Dismuke officiating. Burial will be in Dexter cemetery.
