MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Hazel Lucille Abernathy, 80, of Marble Hill died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at her home.
She was born July 16, 1926, at Parma, Mo., daughter of Charley Wesley and Cora Lee Sanders Trout. She and Cecil Samuel Abernathy were married Aug. 21, 1948. He died Oct. 29, 1986.
Abernathy retired as a seamstress from a hat factory, then worked with the "Experienced Workers" at Bollinger County Library, Head Start, Nutrition Center, East Missouri Action Agency and Woodland School. She was a member of First Open Bible Church in Pontiac, Mich.
Survivors include a son, Michael Abernathy of Marble Hill; six daughters, Barbara Stone of Lake Orion, Mich., Mary Pruchnicki of Lake Worth, Fla., Martha Swords of Pontiac, Mich., Jackie Thiele and Vickie Abernathy of Marble Hill, Diane Rhodes of Atlanta, Ga.; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, a brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Robbins and one of her grandsons, Jerry Stone officiating. Burial will be in McGee Cemetery at Glenallen, Mo.
