A longtime businessman, Harvey Edward Henry, 69, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
He was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Amarillo, Texas, son of Harry and Lillian Henry. He and Madra L. Schafer were married in 1949 in Memphis.
Henry had lived in Cairo, Ill., and was a graduate of Central High School.
He first worked at Kimbel Truck Lines and was terminal manager in St. Louis. He started Southern Express in Cape Girardeau in 1959, and a few years later started Bootheel Transportation in Sikeston. He sold the businesses to Potashnick Transportation in 1989.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Stephen Henry of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Terry Stolte of Fenton; a sister, Dorothea Olms of Kansas City; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
Private service will be held today at Memorial Park Mausoleum, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating.
