ADVANCE - Harvey E. Richards, 81, of Advance, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 4, 1911, in Zalma, son of John E. and Myrtle Borders Richards. He and Thelma Garner were married on Dec. 9, 1935 in Advance.

Richards worked as a lineman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 27 years. He was a member of the Advance Masonic Lodge #590 and was a lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Glen E. Richards of Kansas City, Mo., Loren Richards of Valmeyer, Ill.; four daughters, Wanda Lee Cummins and Margie Garner of Advance, Jerldine "Jerry" Cumpton of Washington, Carolyn Kalemis of Creve Couer; four brothers, Mosie Richards and Johnny Richards of Advance, Clarence Richards of Olney, Ill., Leemon Richards of Creve Couer; five sisters, Effie Grisham of St. Louis, Betty Schwartz of Kankakee, Ill., Goldie Wilson of St. Charles, Lola Gerecke of Fruitland, Melva Phillips of Greenfield, Ind.; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and a grandson.

Friends may call between 3-9 p.m. today at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at the Morgan Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Scott officiating, assisted by the Revs. Ethel Meyers and Richard Crabtree of Advance.

Burial will follow at the Morgan Memorial Park Cemetery in Advance.
