Harry A. Sullivan, 83, a Prineville, Ore., resident, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at the home of a son Patrick in Prineville.

At his request no public service will be held.

Harry was born May 17, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, son of Richard H. and Ida A. Wendel Sullivan. He attended St. Vincent Grade School and St. Mary's High School, and continued his education by attending Southeast Missouri State University for a short while before transferring to the University of Missouri in Columbia so he could obtain a degree in agriculture.

After a short stint as a county agent in Kirksville, Mo., he returned to the University of Missouri to obtain a degree in economics. Harry's career was spent at the Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C.

Harry honorably served in the U.S. Air Force Air Sea Rescue during the Korean conflict, from December 1948 to May 1952 as a Morse code operator on B-29s.

On Oct. 18, 1952, Harry married the love of his life, Barbara Bartsch, whom he met while serving in Germany. They were married at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a daughter, Christine Sullivan of Washington, D.C.; sons, Patrick and wife Cher Sullivan of Prineville, Kevin and LeAnne Sullivan and Steve and wife Melanie Sullivan of Harrisburg, Va., Timothy and wife Cathy of Greer, S.C.; brothers Joe and wife Marcie Sullivan of Cape Girardeau, and Wendel Sullivan of Sturgeon, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sisters, Martha Elizabeth Hanning and Lee Ida Boss; brothers, William, Paul, Vincent "Warren" and Aloysius.

Funeral arrangements were in the care of Prineville Funeral Home.
