Harry Rhodes, 75, of Crump died at the Southeast Hospital Saturday, Feb. 10, 1996. He was born Nov. 28, 1920, at Crump, the son of Sidney Rhodes and Ezra Proffer Rhodes.
He married Lucille Proffer May 27, 1942.
Rhodes was an active member of the First General Baptist Church of Jackson, had served on the church's transportation committee and was a member of the J.O.Y. group.
He had worked at the Cape Ready Mix for 32 years, retiring in 1987. He then spent three years driving the concrete mix truck for Delta Concrete Mix in Cape Girardeau.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Jackson American Legion. He also was a member of the Whitewater Masonic Lodge, was a past worshipful master of the lodge and a 32nd-degree Scottish Rite member. He was a charter member of the former Old Covered Bridge Fox and Wolf Hunter Association.
Survivors are his wife; a son, Steve Rhodes of Jackson; a daughter, Wilma Huffman of Jackson; a sister, Jessie Richardson of Crump; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and a grandson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Revs. Luther Rhodes and Arvil Huffman officiating. Burial will be in the Proffer Cemetery at Crump.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with an honor guard service at 7.
