Harry A. Noel, 68, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 23, 1940, in Jackson, son of Arthur L. and Anna F. Siebert Noel. He and Barbara A. Godwin were married May 18, 1963.

Harry was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1958 and honorably discharged in 1961.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson more than 45 years, and formerly taught boys Sunday school class. He also was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. He worked 39 years for the city of Jackson in the electric department.

In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by a son, William A. Noel of Jackson; two daughters, Rebecca J. Terry and Clarissa (Chuck) Fluegge all of Gravel Hill, Mo.; five grandchildren, Christan Fluegge, Sarah (Casey) Brinlee, George Terry, Casey Fluegge, and Landon Terry; a brother, Danny (Janice) Noel of Ballwin, Mo.; three sisters, Ellen (Nate) Greene of San Ramon, Calif., Edna Crader of Cape Girardeau, and Mary Noel of East Prairie, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carter Frey officiating and assisted by Rob Hurtgen. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield with graveside military honors.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church Youth Program in Jackson or American Cancer Society.
