ANNA, Ill. -- Harry Eugene Williams, 71, of Anna, Ill., formerly of Cairo, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 1991, at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Union County, son of Everett Williams and Maude Halterman Williams. He was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna; a veteran of World War II; member and past officer of the Cairo Elks Lodge; a member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna; and a member of Union County Masonic Lodge 627 of Lick Creek, Ill...

ANNA, Ill. -- Harry Eugene Williams, 71, of Anna, Ill., formerly of Cairo, died Thursday, Aug. 29, 1991, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born Feb. 20, 1920, in Union County, son of Everett Williams and Maude Halterman Williams.

He was a member of the Anna Heights Baptist Church in Anna; a veteran of World War II; member and past officer of the Cairo Elks Lodge; a member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna; and a member of Union County Masonic Lodge 627 of Lick Creek, Ill.

He was retired from the signal department with the Illinois Central Railroad.

He was married to Dortha McBride on March 14, 1959, at Anna. She survives.

He is also survived by sons, Frankie Williams of Anna and Jim McBride of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five daughters, Sue Williams and Darla Austin, both of Springfield, Ill., Jayne Jones of Villa Ridge, Kaaren Dix of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Janet Jennings of Anna; two sisters, Mildred Marcinkowski of Anna, and Mary Manninger of Cobden; mother-in-law, Grace Choate of Anna; 12 grandchildren; one great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell Williams and Clifford Williams.

Service will be at 2 p.m. at the Anna Heights Baptist Church Saturday, with Rev. Thomas H. Walker officiating. Interment will be in Anna Cemetery, with full military honors by VFW Post 2455.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the Anna Heights Baptist Church. Elks rites will be held at the Lutes and Rendleman Funeral home at 7:30 p.m. by the Cairo Elks Lodge.

Jones Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
