CAIRO, Ill. -- Harriette K. Thompson, 73, of Cairo died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. She was born Sept. 10, 1926, at Cairo, daughter of Leonard and Harriette Brankel Levitt. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, serving on the church Altar Guild. CAIRO, Ill. -- Harriette K. Thompson, 73, of Cairo died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2000, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

She was born Sept. 10, 1926, at Cairo, daughter of Leonard and Harriette Brankel Levitt.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, serving on the church Altar Guild. She was a former secretary for Calvary Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Leonard Thompson of Germantown, Md., Jerome Thompson of Topeka, Kan., Timothy Thompson of San Jose, Calif., and Christopher Thompson of Chapel Hill, N.C.; four daughters, Patricia Smith of Cairo, Kay Thompson of Pittsboro, N.C., Mary Anne Smith of Roseville, Calif., and Marie Kalmbach of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Helen Hill of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Mary Caughron of Rock Hill; and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Thompson, in 1981; a son; and a grandson.

Friends may call at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo, with the Rev. Jerome Fortenberry officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
