Harriet N. Schumacher, 93, of Jackson passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 16, 1920, in Shafer, Minn., to George and Mary Magnuson Turner. She and Lloyd E. Schumacher were married in 1939 in Minneapolis. They had four children.
Harriet previously resided in St. Paul, Minn., Santa Monica, Calif., Pacific Palisades, Calif., Fairborn, Ohio, and a number of locations during Lloyd's employment with the U. S. Air Force. She had lived in Jackson since 1988, and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Pat Vega of New York and Kathryn "Kay" Kimberling of Jackson; six grandchildren, Suzanne Vega, Alyson Vega and Matthew Vega, all of New York, Brandi Schumacher of Phoenix and Josh Schumacher and Jamie Schumacher of Cape Girardeau; two great-granddaughters, Sachiko Ezura and Ruby Froom of New York; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Turner of St. Paul.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Dale Schumacher and Glenn Schumacher; two grandsons, Daric Schumacher and Timothy Vega; and two brothers, Glen Turner and Woody Turner.
Harriet is remembered as a strong, kind and generous woman.
Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Safe Harbor Animal Shelter or Jackson Senior Center.
