PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Harold J. Welker, 78, of Perryville died Nov. 21, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Harold J. Welker, 78, of Perryville died Nov. 21, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County in Perryville.

He was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Perry County, son of Ludwig W. and Gertrude M. Buchheit Welker. He and Maureen A. McNeece were married May 4, 1957. She preceded him in death Nov. 14, 2013.

Harold was owner/operator of Landmark Gas in Perryville. He was a retired director of First State Community Bank board of directors. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a 1954 graduate of St. Vincent High School.

Survivors include three sons, David L. (Teri) Welker, Kenneth L. (Tammie) Welker and Michael L. (Bonnie) Welker, all of Perryville; one daughter, Annette M. (Tom) Kettinger of Bloomsdale, Missouri; four sisters, Clarita Pingel of St. Louis, Laverne (Carl) Henneke of Perryville, Barbara (Pete) Modde of St. Louis and Linda (Deacon Walter) Biri of Jackson; 11 grandchildren, Todd (Mindy) Welker, Jamie Welker, Ashley Welker, Lydia Welker, Avery Welker, Jarrette Byington, Jacob Byington, Dustin (Hannah) Welker, Jessica Welker, Joshua Welker and Derek Welker; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one grandson, Nicholas Byington; one great-granddaughter, Naomi Welker; one brother, Raymond Welker; and one sister, Marie Welker.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

He will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Brad Modde and Deacon Walter Biri concelebrating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
