Harold G. Smith, formerly of rural Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 15, 1927, the son of the late James T. and Wilamina Caroline "Mina C." Lohear Smith. Harold G. Smith, formerly of rural Sikeston, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 15, 1927, the son of the late James T. and Wilamina Caroline "Mina C." Lohear Smith.

Smith, a 32nd-degree Mason, was a retired self-employed farmer and also had been employed by Duckett Truck Sales and Agricultural Statistics Service. He had been a member of the Scott County Sheriff's Posse and was a former member of the First United Methodist Church.

Smith is survived by two nephews, James T. "Butch" Wyman of Benton, Kentucky, and Landon Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a niece, Jane Wyman Conner of Memphis, Tennessee; and the love of his life, Rosalie Bollinger of Benton, Missouri.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James T. Smith Jr. and Buddy Frank Smith, and two sisters, Mary Susan Wyman and Lorrine Burgess.

Visitation is planned for noon until the time of service Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dennis Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot in the Old Morley Cemetery in Morley, Missouri, with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Butch Wyman, Casey Johnson, Nathan Holley, Kevin Bollinger, Kyle Bollinger and Cole Bollinger.
