JONESBORO, Ill. -- Harold Clinton Mayo, age 72, of Jonesboro died at 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, surrounded by his family.

He was born March 27, 1938, in Bloomfield, Mo., the son of Clint Oliver and Georgia Mae Bollinger Mayo.

He married Katherine Sue Roman on Jan. 31, 1966, in East St. Louis, Ill.

Harold is survived by his wife, Katherine, of Jonesboro; two sons, Mike Mayo of Advance, Mo., Robert (Gena) Mayo of Anna, Ill.; one daughter, Leslie (Jeff) Harvel of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Ashley Mayo, Shelly (Kyle) Conley, Garret Mayo, Morgan Harvel, Justyn Harvel, Madeline Mayo, Mallory Mayo; one great-grandchild, Ayden Conley; one brother, Bob Mayo of Advance; one sister, Linda (Wayne) York of Campbell, Mo.; mother-in-law, Leona Roman of Eureka, Ill.; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ruth West and Wanda Bivens; one brother, Larry Mayo; one nephew, Robert Harold Norrid; and one niece, Linda Marie Mayo.

Harold was a member of Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna. He was a retired journeyman lineman and a member of the IBEW Local 702 in West Frankfort, Ill., for 35 years. Harold proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959.

Funeral services for Harold Clinton Mayo were Saturday at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Randy Morgan and Pastor Kathryn Montira officiating. Interment was in Jonesboro Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
