OAK RIDGE -- Funeral Mass for Harold J. Hinkebein of Oak Ridge will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Apple Creek. The Rev. John Bolderson will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville from 4 to 9 p.m. today and Monday from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 tonight. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday.
Hinkebein, 66, died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at his home, following an illness of six months.
He was born July 11, 1932, at Leopold, son of Joseph W. and Hendricka Seesing Hinkebein. He and Teresa E. McCabe were married Sept. 13, 1958, in Rye, N.Y.
Known as Mate, Hinkebein retired as master chief warrant officer from the U.S. Navy, and was also retired from Procter & Gamble.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church and its Men's Club, Fleet Reserve, and St. Louis Polka Club.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Barbara Allen of O'Fallon; four sons, Dr. Joseph Hinkebein of Springfield, Ill., Karl Hinkebein of Columbia, Master Chief Kenneth Hinkebein with the U.S. Navy in St. Marys, Ga., and Kevin Hinkebein of O'Fallon.
Also surviving are two brothers, Herschel Hinkebein of Leopold, Dr. John Hinkebein of Manchester; two sisters, Theodora Jansen of Leopold, Kathleen Peters of Glennon; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
