GRAND TOWER, Ill. -- Funeral service for Harold Franklin "Shorty" Wilson of Grand Tower will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meredith Funeral Chapel. Allen R. Pharo will officiate, with burial in Walker Hill Cemetery.
Wilson, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 1994, at his home.
He was born April 29, 1912, at Mexico, Mo., son of William Franklin and Nettie Mae Berry Wilson. He and Della Mae Strickland were married Feb. 8, 1936, in Jackson, Mo.
Wilson was a custodian at Shawnee High School 18 years, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Murphysboro Masonic Lodge 498, former member of Grand Tower Township Board, Grand Tower Park Board, and a former Grand Tower city councilman.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Carl Wilson of New Lenox; a daughter, Dottie Miles of Anna; a brother, Woodrow Wilson of Wittenberg; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, seven brothers and two sisters.
