PULASKI, Ill. -- Harold Gene Dennis, 44, of Riverdale, Calif., formerly of Pulaski, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale. PULASKI, Ill. -- Harold Gene Dennis, 44, of Riverdale, Calif., formerly of Pulaski, died Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at Southern Regional Medical Center in Riverdale.

He was born Sept. 11, 1961, in Cairo, Ill., son of Henry and Willie Lee Dennis.

Dennis served four years as a military policeman in the U.S. Army.

He worked in the Springfield, Ill., area for a while and in 1987 relocated to Atlanta, Ga. He worked in the security field, most recently at the Center for Disease Control. He also owned and operated Dennis Investigation Services until retiring because of ill health. He was a volunteer member of Georgia Department of Defense.

Survivors include a daughter, Shayla of Riverdale; his mother of Pulaski, Ill.; four sisters, Jewel of Chicago, Martha of LaPorte, Ind., Henrietta of Cape Girardeau, Flora of Pulaski; three brothers, James of Cape Girardeau, Sylvester of Pulaski, and Rod Dennis of Decatur, Ga.; and a special friend, Torianda of Riverdale.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.

Friends may call at St. John Praise and Worship Center in Pulaski from 9 a.m. until time of service.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with Larry Barnett and the Rev. Edward Ballard officiating. Burial will be in Mound City National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with military honors provided by Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.

Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill., is in charge of arrangements.
