Harold J. DeClue, 84, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of St. Mary, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 12, 1921, at Silver Lake, Mo., son of Joseph and Eva Haney DeClue Layton. He and Lola Jeraline Brawley were married Sept. 19, 1939...

Harold J. DeClue, 84, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of St. Mary, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 20, 2006, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 12, 1921, at Silver Lake, Mo., son of Joseph and Eva Haney DeClue Layton. He and Lola Jeraline Brawley were married Sept. 19, 1939.

De Clue was a member of the American Legion Post 150, VFW Post 2210, Saline Lodge AF&AM 226 and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Larry DeClue of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Joyce Winston of Ste. Genevieve, Mo., Kathy Newell of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Reva Miller, Leta Rushing, both of Perryville, Ada Holland of St. Mary, Faye Clark of Waynesville, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and brother.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve. At 7 p.m. the VFW and American Legion will hold services; at 7:30 p.m. the Masonic and Eastern Star will hold services.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery at St. Mary.
