LEOPOLD, Mo. — Harold Bernard Beussink, 85, of Leopold passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, at Auburn Creek Senior Living Center in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by his loving family.
Harold was born Aug. 13, 1937, in Leopold to the late Anthony and Mary Arnzen Beussink. On May 17, 1958, Harold was united in marriage to Helen E. Thiele at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold. They had five children: Elaine, Pam, Peggy, Sarah and Stuart.
Harold worked as a carpenter for more than 40 years for Kenny Seabaugh Construction before his retirement. Harold was also a member of St. John Catholic Church in Leopold.
He was an avid outdoorsman. To say he loved nature would be an understatement. Harold loved to fish and hunt anything he could. Everyone would say, "He wore the bass out at Duck Creek." Harold was a perfectionist when it came to working. From painting to trim work or building houses, it was going to be built correctly. Harold was also known to overthrow home plate from center field in his younger days.
Survivors include four daughters, Elaine (DeWayne) Stroder of Leopold and Pam (Stan) Woodfin, Peggy (Francis) Nenninger and Sarah (David) Johnson, all of Marble Hill, Missouri; son, Stuart (Julie) Beussink of Marble Hill; brother, David (Judy) Beussink of Jackson; two sisters, Pat Bollinger of Marble Hill and Linda Brown of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 61 years, Helen; five brothers, Fred, Bill, Philip, Charles and Franklin Beussink; and two sisters, Adele Brands and Catherine Brands.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt Woodfin, Noland Beussink, Michael Massa, Randy Conn, Nathan Stroder, Alex Crowe, Rick Thiele and Nick Thiele.
