Retired Lt. Col. Harmon E. Robertson, 80, of O'Fallon, Ill., died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, in O'Fallon.
He was born April 27, 1921, in East Lansing, Mich., son of James Earl and Adeline Hoose Robertson. He married Virginia Lee Tarver, who died in 1990.
Robertson was a member of the 8th Air Force during World War II, and was a flight instructor for the Army Air Corps in Eagle Pass, Texas. He served 23 years in the Air Force as a pilot and as assistant commander of the Promotions and Separations Directorate of the Military Airlift Command at Scott Air Force Base.
He served on the boards of the Officers Club at Scott AFB, Exchange Club, and St. Clair County Historical Society. He had also been active in Cub Scouting.
Survivors include three sons, James Robertson of Tampa, Fla., Stephen Robertson of Cape Girardeau, Mark Robertson of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Patricia Robertson of Fairplay, Colo.; a sister, Anna Lewis of Chicago; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Private service was held, with burial in O'Fallon City Cemetery.
Schildknecht Funeral Home in O'Fallon was in charge of arrangements.
