Mr. Harley Dale Henry, 58, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999 at the Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Oct. 13, 1940 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Toby and Nola Mungle Henry. He married the former Betty Poe June 23, 1963 and she survives.
Mr. Henry was raised on the family farm west of Jackson and attended the former Cane Creek Grade School. He graduated from Jackson High School in 1958 and served in the U.S. Army from 1958-64, (21 months in Rochofort, France). He worked at the former Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau and Jackson Auto Parts in Jackson.
He has been a sheet metal worker for 32 years, and at the time of his death, he was employed by Associated Sheet Metal, Inc. of Jackson.
He was a member of the New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and the current Senior Warden and past Worshipful Master of Excelsior Lodge 441 AF and AM of Jackson. He was a member of the Excelsior Club, Sword of Bunker Hill, 32nd degree Masonic Scottish Rite and Capaha Scottish Rite Club of Cape Girardeau. He also was a member of the Excelsior Chapter Advisory Council Order of DeMolay and was a member of the American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
He is survived by his wife Betty Henry; two sons, Jeff Henry of Jackson and James and daughter-in-law Christa Henry of Cape Girardeau; one daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Daniel Lohmann of St. Louis; one brother, Tom Henry of Jackson Route; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Homer Montgomery of Jackson Route; four grandchildren, Megan Henry, Hannah Lohmann and Nathaniel Lohmann of St. Louis and Evan Jeffrey Henry of Jackson.
He was preceded by one nephew, Travis Tusgoff.
There will be a visitation from 4-8 tonight at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson with funeral services at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel. The Revs. John Rice, O. David Griffin and Richard Northcutt will officiate. Burial will be in the Russell Heights Cemetery.
Masonic services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may give memorials to the New McKendree United Methodist Church Education Fund or the Old McKendree Chapel Association.
