ELCO, Ill. -- Hardy Harper "Dunk" Johnson, 70, of Elco, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1992, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis. ELCO, Ill. -- Hardy Harper "Dunk" Johnson, 70, of Elco, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1992, at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

He was born March 8, 1921, in Sandusky, son of Gus Everett and Edna Mae Harper Johnson.

Johnson worked 32 years at Hunter Packing Co. in St. Louis. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a sister, Josephine Sims of Elco, and a brother, James Johnson of Republic, Mo.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Rev. Vernon McClellan will officiate, with burial in St. John's Cemetery at Dongola.
