SIKESTON -- Harbert Raymond Western, 69, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 8, 1927, in Katyville, Tenn., son of James David and Carrie Carlyle Western. He and Ruth E. Shaw were married Dec. 20, 1945, in Charleston.
Western was a machinist at Triangle Wire Co. 11 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harbert Western of Sikeston, Larry Western of Sikeston; two daughters, Janet Johnson and Phyllis Harms of Sikeston; three brothers, Billy, Jimmy and Carl Western of Sikeston; four sisters, Alma Smith of Morehouse, Mable Holmes and Linda Ramsey of Sikeston, Burma Baker of House Springs; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a great-grandson and two brothers.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Terry Carter officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Charleston.
