Hannah Lavinia Smith, 85, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1992, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born April 5, 1907, in Johnston City, Ill., daughter of George and Eliza Jane Dangerfield Hope. She married Edward Franklin Smith July 15, 1928, in Benton, Ill. He died in January 1964.

Smith was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Survivors include four sons, Dick Smith of Cape Girardeau, Robert Smith of Carterville, Ill., George Smith of Wabash, Ind., Jack Smith of St. Louis; a daughter, Jane Kenner of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Thomas Hope of Chaffee; a sister, Helen Karpus of Johnston City; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. David Dissen will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
