G.W. Allen

EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- G.W. Allen, 71, of East Prairie died Monday, March 14, 2005, at his home.

He was born Oct. 23, 1933, at Wolf Island, Mo., son of George M. and Bessie Hockersmith Allen. He and Shirley Weekley were married Oct. 4, 1953, in Holly Springs, Miss.

Allen lived in Mississippi County all his life and was a farmer. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, Charleston Masonic Lodge 407 AF&AM and was a 32nd Degree Master Mason.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marcalea Ryan of Sikeston, Mo., Sharon Schulte of East Prairie; two sisters, Vivian Watson of East Prairie, Maxine Laster of Bertrand, Mo.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 6 p.m. today. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7 by the Charleston lodge.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with Timothy Miller officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
