Guy E. Lowes, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at the Lutheran Home.
He was born Sept.. 29, 1906, at Grand Tower, Ill., son of Charles G. and Stella Wilson Lowes. He and Lillian B. Tuschhoff were married Oct. 26, 1931, at Chester, Ill. She died Aug. 26, 1999.
Lowes was a truck driver. He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
He farmed in Perry County until 1950 when he moved to Cape Girardeau. He drove trucks for Mayflower, Bekin and was self-employed until his retirement. He lived in Perry County and Cape Girardeau County his entire life.
He was the first patient admitted to Southeast Missouri Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Albert Lowes of Jackson and Guy A. Lowes of Little Rock, Ark.; two daughters, Irma Jean Paden of Maysville and Mary Frances Lowes of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Ray Lowes of Columbia and Leslie Lowes of Perryville; a sister, Prudie Elbrecht of Murphysboro, Ill.; a granddaughter, Danita Lowes of Sidney, Australia; and five grandsons, J. Andrew Lowes of Indianapolis, Ind., Kurt B. Lowes of Weldon Springs, William M. Lowes of Birmingham, Ala., Albert C. Lowes II of Jackson and Guy A. Lowes Jr. of Chapmanville, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one daughter.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Robert Klein officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
