Grover Cleveland Crites, 89, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, in Scottsdale.
He was born May 4, 1915, son of Cleve and Rhoda Crites of Jackson. He married Helen Hard, who died Dec. 21, 1998.
Crites was a graduate of Jackson High School and Southeast Missouri State University, and was an athlete at both schools. He coached football at Perryville and Advance, Mo., before moving to East St. Louis, Ill., where he was a coach, teacher and principal 31 years.
Crites moved to Scottsdale in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Cooper of Scottsdale, Nancy Weber of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Dr. W.W. "Pete" Crites of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Lorene McDowell of Fruitland; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
A memorial service was held Nov. 21 in Scottsdale.
Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary in Fountain Hills, Ariz., was in charge of arrangements.
