ADVANCE -- Grover C. Stevens, 74, of Advance, formerly of Zalma, died Friday, June 11, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 5, 1919 at Alton, Mo., son of Dee and Sarah Shipman Stevens.
He married Eula Williams on Oct. 8, 1938 at Alton, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Edward Stevens, of Puxico; daughters, Wanda Lineberry of Nashville, Tenn., and Vernie Becker of Advance; brothers, Jesse Stevens of Risco, Earl Stevens of Alton, Waymon Stevens of Valley Park, and Homer Stevens of DeSoto, Mo.; sisters, Vora Hensley, Ora Williams and Pearl Casey, all of Alton, Mo., and Agnes Williams of Troy, Mo.; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
He was retired from the Missouri State Highway Department. He was a veteran at World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.
He was a member and deacon of the Zalma General Baptist Church, and was a member of the Zalma Masonic Lodge $545 AF & AM.
Service will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Morgan Funeral Chapel at Advance, with the Rev. Keith Price, pastor of Brownwood General Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.
