ANNA, Ill. -- Gretta Brasel, 79, of Anna, Ill., Rt. 2, died Saturday, Nov. 23, at the City Care Center in Anna.
She was born Feb. 29, 1912 in Nearmott, North Dakota, to A.C. and Cora Escue Rawlings. She moved to Union County in 1933.
On May 18, 1935, she married James J. Brasel. He survives, along with one brother, Arthur A. Rawlings of Sullivan, Ill. She was preceded in death by a brother, Vern W. Rawlings.
Brasel retired from the Anna State Hospital on June 1, 1972, where she was employed 39 years as an A.R.T. Record Technician.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church near Cobden, where she taught Sunday School for 35 years.
She was also a member of the Lick Creek Eastern Star, Chapter 1024, and a member of the Business and Professional Womens Association.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home in Anna.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 2:30 p.m., at the Crain Funeral Chapel in Anna, with the Rev. Clifton Lingle officiating. Burial will be in the Anna Cemetery.
