BENTON -- Gregory "Frank" Martin, 80, of Benton died Friday, June 19, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 22, 1918, at Chaffee, son of John and Pauline Rebecca Bechel Martin.
He married Verneta Urhahn on Sept. 7, 1940, at Benton. She survives.
He had worked as a freight handler for Frisco Railroad and service man at Pat's Gas in Benton.
He had lived in Benton for 58 years and was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Men's Club. He belonged to Oran Knights of Columbus Council 4311, Chaffee Elks Lodge 1810 and the United Transportation Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, with parish prayers at 7 and a Knights of Columbus prayer service at 7:30. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Denis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be at St. Denis Cemetery.
