MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Gracie Lucille Garland, 88, of Marble Hill passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at the Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill.
She was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Bollinger County, the daughter of Davie F. and Oma Jones James. She and Lendwood Garland were united in marriage Aug. 11, 1943, and he passed away Oct. 7, 1993.
Gracie was a homemaker who loved to work in the garden, piece quilts, hand quilt, embroider and sew, play the piano and sing, and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son, Frank (Wanda) Garland of Sedgewickville, Missouri; four daughters, Grace (Oda) Cook of Millersville, Carolyn Buckner of Marble Hill, Katherine (Ronnie) Cook of Marble Hill and Virginia (Harold) Bilek of Millersville; a brother, Jim James of Jackson; four sisters, Edna Cook of Marble Hill, Nettie Jacobs of Cape Girardeau, Norma Jean Proffer of Jackson and Linda Bazzell of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband; parents; a son, David Lynn Garland; brothers Jack, Lindell and Glen; sisters Louise and Nellie Ruth; two infant sisters; grandchildren Chad Michael Garland and Jennifer Lynn Garland; and one great-great-granddaughter, Lily Michelle Cook.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Jimmie Fulbright and Don Estes officiating. Burial will be in Pulliam Cemetery near Scopus, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the Pulliam Cemetery.
