PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Grace J. Yamnitz, 92, of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County. She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of William Joe and Ellen Roe Long. She and Vernard E. Yamnitz were married Sept. 23, 1944. He preceded her in death Dec. 31, 2000...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Grace J. Yamnitz, 92, of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.

She was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Hornersville, Mo., daughter of William Joe and Ellen Roe Long. She and Vernard E. Yamnitz were married Sept. 23, 1944. He preceded her in death Dec. 31, 2000.

Mrs. Yamnitz was a housewife and rural school teacher. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary Post 4282.

Survivors include five sons, Keith, Barry, Bryan and Everett (Vida) Yamnitz, all of Perryville, and James (Lona) Yamnitz of High Ridge, Mo.; two daughters, Olive Delight Yamnitz and Celesta (Lawrence) Kiefer of Perryville; one brother, Ernst Long of Lincoln, Neb.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Bruce Yamnitz; one grandson, Mark; one great-grandson, Alex; two brothers, William Bernard Long and Everett Long; and two sisters, Esther Polen and Zettie Capps.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and 6:30 a.m. until time of service at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice.
