GRAND TOWER, Ill. -- Grace Pearl Norton, 87, of Grand Tower died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in Jonesboro. She was born Oct. 23, 1911, at Neelys Landing, Mo., daughter of Robert Ellison and Mary Elizabeth McCain Rumfelt. She and Thomas Oral Norton Sr. were married March 18, 1928. He died March 19, 1978...

GRAND TOWER, Ill. -- Grace Pearl Norton, 87, of Grand Tower died Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, in Jonesboro.

She was born Oct. 23, 1911, at Neelys Landing, Mo., daughter of Robert Ellison and Mary Elizabeth McCain Rumfelt. She and Thomas Oral Norton Sr. were married March 18, 1928. He died March 19, 1978.

Norton was a member of the Church of God in Gale.

Survivors include three sons, Oral Norton Jr. of Gordonville, Mo., Floyd Norton of Murphysboro, John Norton of Grand Tower; two daughters, Lucille Robertson of Jonesboro, and Betty Clover of Grand Tower.

Also surviving are two brothers, Alonzo Rumfelt of Middletown, Calif., Milo Rumfelt of Hillsboro, Va.; three sisters, Hallie Pinkerton of Jackson, Mo., Hannah Cotner and Joe Ann Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters, a grandson, four great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

Friends may call at Meredith Funeral Home in Grand Tower after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Wayne Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery.
