MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Gordon Cook, 84, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at his home.
He was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Mayfield, Mo., son of Marion Amon and Grace Mae Angle. He and Mary Stuehmeyer were married Sept. 13, 1947.
Gordon worked for the Bollinger County Highway Department 18 years, taught three years at James School and owned Cook's Dozing Services. He was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church and attended the Community Church in Marble Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; four sons, Eddie, Gary and Lyndall Cook of Marble Hill, Ray Cook of Jackson; a daughter, Margie Gaines of Marble Hill; three brothers, Billy J.C. Cook of Chaffee, Mo., Elbert and Larry Cook of Marble Hill; four sisters, Mary Ellen Robinson and Louise Hanners of Marble Hill, Lula Statler of Perryville, Mo., Betty Crites of Valley Park, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a sister, Lucille Cook.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Fulbright and Diana Cook officiating. Burial will be in Pulliam Cemetery.
